Golden Prawn tacos

A spice spin on bang bang prawns. These tacos are loaded with crispy, golden-fried prawns tossed in a sweet, fiery Golden One mayo, laid over slaw and soft toasted tortillas. They're the kind of crowd-pleaser that disappears in minutes.

Ingredients (makes 6 mini tacos)

For the prawns:

 


  • Peeled raw prawns (approx. 200–250g)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp ginger powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp white pepper
  • ½ tsp dried parsley
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup cornflour
  • ½ cup plain flour
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Golden One mayo

 


  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1–2 tbsp The Golden One
  • Squeeze of fresh lemon juice
  • Salt, to taste

For the slaw

 


  • Shredded red cabbage
  • Grated carrot
  • Spring onion
  • 1 tbsp mayo
  • Juice of ½ lime
  • Salt, to taste

To serve

 


  • 6 mini soft tortillas
  • Extra Golden One for topping

Instructions

  1. Prep the Prawns
    Clean and pat dry the prawns. Season with paprika, ginger powder, garlic powder, white pepper, dried parsley and salt. Mix well.
  2. Coat for Crispiness
    Add one egg to bind. Mix cornflour and plain flour in equal parts, then coat the prawns in the flour mix.
  3. Fry Until Golden
  4. Make the Golden Mayo
    Mix mayonnaise with The Golden One, lemon juice, and a little salt. Toss the crispy prawns in the mayo until evenly coated. ;
  5. Assemble the Slaw
    In a bowl, combine red cabbage, carrot, mayo, lime juice and a pinch of salt.
  6. Build Your Tacos
    Lightly toast the tortillas. Layer with slaw, then golden prawns. Finish with a drizzle of The Golden One.
  7. Optional Add-ons
    Top with guac or salsa if you’re going all out.

Best served with whatever’s coming out of the oven. Best served with Pepper Pots.
