Ingredients (serves 2-3)

For the Steak Bites:

  • 300 g sirloin steak, cut into cubes
  • Olive oil, for seasoning
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp salted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed or finely chopped
  • 1–2 tbsp The Green Meko seasoning
  • A handful of fresh parsley, chopped

For the Kelewele

  • 2 ripe plantains, peeled and cut into diagonal slices
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Oil for frying

To Serve

  • Extra Green Meko, on the side or drizzled on top

Instructions

  1. Prep the Steak
Toss the steak cubes in olive oil, salt, and pepper. Set aside to marinate briefly while you make the butter sauce.
  2. Make the Green Meko Butter
In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add garlic, The Green Meko, and parsley. Stir until fragrant and well combined — about 1–2 minutes.
  3. Cook the Steak Bites
Add the seasoned steak cubes to the butter sauce and cook for 4–5 minutes, turning to ensure even sear. Once browned and cooked to your liking, spoon over some extra butter sauce before serving.
  4. Fry the Kelewele
    In a bowl, combine the cloves, nutmeg, black pepper, chilli powder, and salt. Toss the plantain slices in the spice mix until evenly coated. Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the plantains in batches until golden and crispy. Drain on kitchen paper. ;
  5. Plate and Serve
Serve the steak bites alongside the kelewele, with a generous helping of extra Green Meko for dipping or drizzling.

Best served with whatever’s coming out of the oven. Best served with Pepper Pots.
